Great Beer Gives Back

…and we stand by this. Since the day we first dreamed about starting Common Space Brewery, we wanted our core focus to be crafting an environment for people to thrive in and improving the lives of others and our community. That effort to help those around us was officially launched with our Great Beer Gives Back special release program in 2020.

OGG IPA

OGG IPA Round 2 is back! Translantic collab between Common Space Brewery in Hawthorne California and Sureshot in Manchester, UK. We partnered with artist and craft beer lover Steven Ogg, known for his roles in The Walking Dead, Westworld, Snowpiercer and the upcoming series The Boiling POint, to brew this delicious limited release IPA to raise funds and spread awareness for the care, support and research efforts in the fight against Alzheimer's and all other dementia. Proceeds from this beer order will be donated to The Longest Day and Alzheimer's Association.

COSMIC KIKI IPA

In June 2022, we proudly introduced Cosmic Kiki, a Hazy IPA, as a special release during Pride Month. With every sip you not only enjoyed a fantastic beer but also contributed to a meaningful cause. Thanks to your incredible support, we were able to raise an impressive $1,500, all of which went directly to supporting PFLAG South Bay.

At the heart of PFLAG South Bay is the unwavering commitment to affirming the experiences of our local transgender youth and showering them with love and support just as they deserve. The chapter tirelessly advocates for the rights of LGBTQIA youth, fights for equitable education, and provides essential familial support. We proudly stand alongside PFLAG South Bay as allies for all those whose voices may be marginalized.

KOKUA IPA

Common Space Brewery joined The KŌKUA PROJECT, led by Maui Brewing Co. by brewing KOKUA - One beer, brewed by so many, to support those affected by the Maui wildfires. Proceeds from this beer will be donated directly the Maui Brewing Co. Fire Fund.

We have found that a good beer has the incredible ability to bring people together, and we are hoping our Kōkua beer, brewed especially with this cause in mind, will bring our community together to support our wider community on Maui.

OGG IPA

During the summer of 2022, we had the incredible opportunity to collaborate with the talented artist and craft beer enthusiast, Steven Ogg. You might recognize Steven from his notable roles in popular TV shows like The Walking Dead, Westworld, Snowpiercer, and his upcoming film, Emancipation. Together, we embarked on a special journey to create a mouthwatering limited-edition IPA that would not only delight your taste buds but also make a meaningful impact.

Our shared mission was to raise funds and raise awareness for the vital care, support, and research initiatives in the ongoing fight against Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia. With every purchase of this exceptional brew, we pledged to donate the proceeds to The Longest Day and Alzheimer's Association. Through your incredible support, we were able to raise an impressive $4,500, bringing us closer to our ambitious goal of $5,000.

HIKE MORE HAZY IPA

In the summer of 2023, we joined forces with Keep Nature Wild and On Trail With to ignite the power of preserving the beauty of our beloved Golden State while making a positive impact in the process.

To kick off this initiative, we put together a spirited outdoor cleanup at the Ballona Wetlands Ecological Reserve. We continued the festivities with a Hike More Hazy IPA launch party at the brewery, featuring exclusive, limited-edition merchandise designed by the amazing team at Keep Nature Wild.

What's even more exciting? Every piece of this special merchandise purchased will translate into a pound of trash being whisked away from our cherished natural havens by the Keep Nature Wild team.

IPA FOR PEACE

We may be a small brewery half a world away, but we want to help. We donated 100% of profits from IPA for Peace to these four charities:

  • Care.org

  • World Central Kitchen

  • Doctors without Borders

  • Voices of Children

AXE ALS

This beer helped raise awareness and fight against ALS.

Our CEO's close friend has a remarkable brother named Eric Stevens. Eric, a local ex-football player, and firefighter, was diagnosed with ALS—an incredibly challenging condition with no known cure. In our determination to make a difference, we're leveraging our platform to raise awareness and support those affected by this devastating disease.

To contribute to the cause, we've pledged to donate proceeds from every Axe ALS beer sold. These donations went directly to @teamstevensnation, a non-profit organization that is tirelessly fighting alongside Eric, providing hope and assistance in his battle against ALS.

FRIENDLY FACES

Proceeds of this beer were donated right back to our bartenders.

Imagine the magic that happens when our creative minds come together! In a virtual gathering, we sat down with our incredible bartenders to brainstorm and give birth to something truly special: Friendly Faces.

Our bartenders played a pivotal role in every aspect of this beer's creation. They handpicked the beer style, carefully chose its name, and even had a talented bartender among us, Ryan Clark, design and bring the can to life with their artistic skills. But the creativity didn't stop there—another talented bartender, Gabe Callahan, crafted a captivating story that now graces the can's surface. Together, with our enthusiastic production team, we collaborated and agreed upon an IPA style that captured the essence of what they envisioned.

TAKE ACTION IPA

In May 2020, we found ourselves deeply moved and inspired by the powerful BLM movement, and we knew we had to Take Action and make a meaningful difference in our community. It was during this time that we brewed a special beer with a purpose—to support organizations dedicated to combating systemic racism and fostering social and racial justice.

The initial release of this beer took place in July 2020, and the response was incredible. The overwhelming support and demand prompted us to release a second round in September 2020, and a third in September 2021, allowing more people to join us in championing this important cause.

25=100 DIPA

With our home base in Hawthorne, CA we are in the center of the Greater Los Angeles area and we are aware of the struggles in our community. This 25=100 DIPA was brewed in support of our local food bank, which can turn a $25 donation into 100 meals for those in need. Our goal was to raise $1,250 in donations prior to releasing 25=100 with us matching donations, thus helping provide 10,000 meals.

PEOPLE POWER BEER

This hoppy pilsner-style lager was released in October 2020 as part of the campaign started by People Power Beer to support The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) to create a more perfect union — beyond one person, party, or side. Proceeds of this beer were donated to the ACLU.

BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL

We're excited to share that we crafted and canned a special brew called Black Is Beautiful—a delightful 7.0% ABV stout. But it's more than just a delicious beer; it's a meaningful way for us to contribute to a cause we deeply care about.

With every purchase of Black Is Beautiful, we donated the proceeds to Campaign Zero, an exceptional non-profit organization. Campaign Zero firmly believes in a world where we can put an end to unnecessary loss of lives by working towards reducing police interventions, fostering better community interactions, and establishing vital accountability measures.
